Introduction to the NET 2023

The University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET) is a national-level exam used to determine whether candidates are eligible for only Assistant Professor positions or for both JRF and Assistant Professor positions in Indian universities and colleges. If you pass the UGC NET exam, you will be considered for Assistant Professor and/or Junior Research Fellowship positions at UGC-approved universities.

Eligibility Criteria for UGC NET 2023

The following are the full eligibility requirements for the UGC NET 2022 Exam:

  • Candidates must hold a master’s degree in a relevant subject from a recognized institution.
  • Candidates must have received at least 55 percent (50 percent for OBC/ SC/ ST/ PwD/ Third gender candidates) without rounding.

Candidates who are taking the final exam or whose results are still pending can also apply for the UGC NET Exam.

Maximum age:

  • Candidates for JRF must be at least 31 years old, with reserved candidates receiving a 5-year age relaxation.
  • For the Assistant Professor, there will be no upper age limit.

Application for UGC NET 2023:

The following are the complete details of the UGC Net 2022 Application Form for candidates to review:

 

  • The UGC net 2022 online form is available in the first week of March 2022 (July Session) and the first week of September 2022 (Fall Session) (December Session).

  • Candidates must complete several steps to complete the application form, including online registration, filling out the application form, uploading scanned images, and paying the application fee.
  • The deadline to submit an online application for the July Session is the second week of April 2022, and the last week of September 2022 for the December Session.
  • Once the board has opened the correction facility, candidates can even correct mistakes in the application form’s details.

NET exam 2023 Syllabus

The complete exam pattern for the UGC NET 2022 Examination is as follows:

 

  • Exam Format: The exam will be administered in CBT (Computer Based Test/Online) format.
  • Language: The question paper will be written in the language chosen by the candidates from Hindi or English.
  • Number of Papers: The examination will consist of two papers.
  • Multiple-choice, objective-type questions will be included in the question paper.
  • Exam duration: The exam will last three hours.
  • Questions: The paper will contain 150 questions in total.
  • Marks: The question paper will be worth a total of 300 points.
  • Marking Scheme: Two marks will be awarded for each correct answer.
  • Negative Marking: The paper will not have any negative marking.

Exam Pattern for JRF NET 2023:

The test will consist of 200 multiple-choice questions. The examination will last three hours. The JRF NET consists of three papers:

 

Part ‘A’: Questions from General Science, Quantitative Reasoning & Analysis, and Research Aptitude are included in Part A. There are a total of 20 questions, 15 of which must be answered. This section is worth a total of 30 points.

Part ‘B’: This section contains 50 multiple-choice questions from the syllabus. Candidates must respond to any 35 questions. Part ‘B’ is worth a total of 70 points.

Part ‘C‘ contains 75 multiple-choice questions. Candidates must answer any of the 20-35 questions. Part ‘B’ is worth a total of 70 points. Candidates must apply their scientific problems in this section, which consists of scientific problems. Part ‘C’ is worth a total of 100 points.
