BBOSE

To promote Education and Skills to every individual in the state of Bihar, the Bihar Board of Open Schooling and Examination or what is popularly called BBOSE has been established in the state in the year 2011. The main focus of this autonomous organization is to promote education and skill development to everyone in the state, especially the socio-economically marginalized sections of the society. BBOSE conducts courses corresponding to Class I to Class XII in order to integrate the learners taking up the courses with mainstream courses.

The most popular courses under BBOSE are the Class X and Class XII level courses. Thousands of learners take up these courses to upgrade their knowledge and skill levels. BBOSE offers several innovative courses that not only impart academic knowledge but also vocational skills to learners.

Introduction about the Course

The Secondary Class or Class X equivalent and the Senior Secondary Class or Class XII equivalent are the two most sought after courses at the BBOSE. Both the courses are conducted by the BBOSE in distance learning mode where the institute provides students with all course work including printed material, videos, audios and other materials. In addition to these resources, the organization also has student coordinators, teachers available to assist them in case of any doubts. 

Study centres are available at 38+ places in the state to help students during their course.  The most important aspect of these courses is that the course is free of cost for residents of Bihar. Public examinations are conducted at regular intervals

BBOSE Class X

The BBOSE Class X course offers opportunities for learners who had to drop out of the formal schooling medium to complete their Secondary Education and acquire knowledge equivalent to that acquired by students in formal educational boards like C.B.S.E. This is a flexible course where students can learn at their own pace and appear for the BBOSE Class X examination conducted twice every year by the board. Students can choose from a few mandatory subjects and elective subjects depending on their interests and preferences. There are a total of 18 subjects that the institute conducts for the secondary level.

BBOSE Class XII

In order to gain admission to graduation courses, it is imperative to pass the Class XII examination and the BBOSE Class XII course offers the opportunity to pass the Class XII examination for students who have been left out of the formal schooling system. The Class XII course aims to build not only academic skills but also technical skills that can empower students to pursue a career of their choice. This flexible course by BBOSE allows students to also train in vocational skills that help them pursue a career in a field of their choice.

The Class XII course comprises a total of 28 subjects from which students have to pass a few mandatory subjects and pursue a few courses to build skills. Students need to pass at least 7 subjects to complete the course

Eligibility

To be eligible for admissions for the BBOSE Class X course, the student should meet the following criteria:

  1. The student should have passed Class 9 from Bihar Board or any recognized board.
  2. The student should have valid age proof showing that the student is above the age of 14. For students who want admissions for the June-July academic sessions, the age should be 14 by August 31 of that year while for students seeking admission for December- January academic session, the age of 14 should be attained by the student by 28.29the February of that year.
  3. Student has to submit school leaving or original transfer certificate from the previous school

While filling out the admission form, a student needs to submit the following in an online form:

∙         A copy of birth certificate / Affidavit – Proof of age

∙         A copy of address proof

∙         Aadhar Card

∙         1 photograph

To be eligible for the BBOSE Class XII course, the student should meet the following criteria:

  1. The student should have a minimum age of 15 with valid age proof. For students who want admissions for the June-July academic sessions, the age should be 15 by August 31 of that year while for students seeking admission for December- January academic session, the age of 15 should be attained by the student by 28.29the February of that year.
  2. The student should have successfully passed the Class 10thexamination from Bihar Board or any recognized Board.
  3. Student has to submit school leaving or original transfer certificate from the previous school

While filling out the admission form, a student needs to submit the following in an online form:

∙         Secondary mark sheet

∙         Birth certificate

∙         Address proof

∙         Photographs

Admission Process

The entire admission form for BBOSE Class X and Class XII Courses is available online. You can fill out an online form or print-out form and submit the filled form to the nearest colleges on given dates. The online admission form is available at the following portal: at http://112.133.209.200/onlinehome.aspx, follow the instructions carefully, register and fill in all the required details and upload the necessary documents when prompted to do so. You need to keep the documents like Aadhar Card (or any valid Identity document like Passport, Driving License, Ration Card, Bank Pass Book, etc), Last Mark-sheet, photograph, other certificates like Domicile / Caste-certificate if necessary while filling the form. Curriculum

BBOSE Class Xth  

Students taking the Class X course need to pass a minimum of 5 subjects including one or a maximum of 2 languages listed under Group A and the other three or four subjects listed under Group B.

However, a student is free to pursue additional 2 subjects depending on his / her preference. Thus, a maximum of 7 subjects is permitted for each student. These additional 2 subjects could be from Group A or Group B. The following table gives a list of courses available for secondary BBOSE Class X courses:

∙         Group-A

o   Hindi, English, Urdu, Sanskrit, Bhojpuri, Maithili, Bangla, Arabic, Persian, (Choose 1 or maximum 2 amongst these languages)

∙         Group-B

o   Mathematics, Science and Technology, Social Science, Economics, Business Studies, Physical Education, Home Science, Basic Computers, Arts, Indian Culture.

 

BBOSE Class XII

Students taking the BBOSE XII course need a minimum of 5 subjects including one or a maximum of 2 languages listed under Group A and the other three or four subjects listed under other groups. However, a student is free to pursue additional subjects depending on his / her preference. A student can choose the 3rd language from group A but that can be an additional subject and not part of the 5 courses. A maximum of 7 subjects can be chosen per student.

∙         Group-A

o   Hindi, English, Urdu, Sanskrit, Bhojpuri, Maithili, Bangla, Arabic, Persian, (Choose 1 or maximum 2 amongst these languages)

∙         Group-B

o   Physics, Chemistry, Biology, History, Geography, Mathematics, Home Science, Economics, Business Studies, Political Science, Accountancy, Psychology, Computer Science, Sociology, Arts, Music, Physical Education, Philosophy.

 

Future Scope and Advantages

The most important advantage of the BBOSE Class X and Class XII course is the opportunity to get educated at par with those pursuing education through mainstream schooling medium. Students who had to drop out of studies can pursue the BBOSE course and qualify for the Class X and Class XII examination thereby opening doors for all opportunities available for mainstream schooling children. The qualification certificate from BBOSE is recognized by all educational institutes so that a student can pursue graduation or a course of his/her choice.

Passing the BBOSE Class X and Class XII examination opens doors for a multitude of career opportunities. One can opt for doing BTech to become an engineer or can become a BSc for specialization in various fields of science. One may even opt to do a BCom, MBBS, BHMS and pursue a career in commerce or medicine. One can also opt to pursue courses in Fashion Designing, Mass Media Communications, Hotel Management and so on.
